SnapShots (a.k.a., stuff I put on SnapChat)
Welcome to my website!
I'm a reporter based in San Francisco, and my skills include: reporting and writing, photojournalism, graphic design, and data gathering and analysis. In my spare time, I’m trying to learn a little bit about database management (hello MySQL and Python) to get away from tedious spreadsheet number crunching…
I've covered topics as varied as tech, homelessness, campaign finance, housing, education, food culture and health. I have been published at various outlets including KQED, the SF Bay Guardian, 48 Hills, the SF Weekly and the San Francisco Public Press. And my photography has been featured in both print and online at the Asahi Shimbun — one of Japan’s largest daily newspapers, where I currently cover Big Tech, Hollywood and general breaking news in the Western US and Pacific from the San Francisco bureau.
I have a degree in "Politics" and "Language Studies" from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and have been living in San Francisco since the summer of 2009.
I’ve used data to find interesting stories for my work at the San Francisco Public Press and the SF Weekly.
